While the internet is full of quick tips and storage hacks, many lack scientific backing. Today, we are pulling back the curtain using independent laboratory and patent data to explain the true science behind HOCl storage and how to keep your Pet Whiz at peak performance.

The "DIY" vs. "Professional" Difference

It is a known scientific fact that homemade HOCl generated from at-home countertop machines is highly unstable; it begins to naturally degrade the moment it sits at a regular room temperature of 25°C.

Pet Whiz is built differently.

Manufactured using ultra-pure water and a proprietary stabilization process, our HOCl is secured in specialized, sealed opaque PET packaging. Backed by published laboratory data, professionally stabilized HOCl like ours can withstand extreme high temperatures (such as 14-day accelerated aging tests at 54°C) without losing its core efficacy.

During summer shipping, delivery trucks, cargo transit, and sorting facilities can reach blistering, oven-like temperatures. This specific 54°C stress test scientifically proves that our formula easily survives the harsh, prolonged heat of transit without losing its core purifying efficacy. Furthermore, laboratory graphs tracking HOCl performance demonstrate that when stored in these white opaque PET bottles for 150 days under standard 23-25°C condition, the active compound remains incredibly stable, retaining nearly all of its original potency in a virtually flat line, while solutions in other plastics rapidly degrade and fail.

The Fridge Rule

Even with this advanced heat resistance, we highly recommend storing your opened Pet Whiz bottle in the refrigerator (please do not freeze it!) when it is not in active use. Keeping the solution chilled ensures the hypochlorous acid consistently maintains its absolute best performance and purifying benefits.

Trail & On-the-Go Storage

If you need to take Pet Whiz outdoors or on the go, we suggest transferring just the amount you need into a smaller, light-blocking (opaque) PET travel bottle. Doing this prevents your primary supply from being repeatedly exposed to outdoor heat, which helps extend the overall lifecycle and potency of your main Pet Whiz bottle as much as possible!
